About Comet Rhythmic Gymnastics Club

Kira Protasova is the Founder and Director of Comet Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, an international-level rhythmic gymnastics club based in Toronto, Canada. With over 30 years in rhythmic gymnastics, including more than 15 years of professional coaching experience, Kira Protasova is a Master of Sport of Russia, certified National-Level Judge in Canada, elite coach, choreographer, and former national team athlete. Kira began her gymnastics journey at the age of four and progressed through the highest levels of the sport, becoming a multiple-time champion of the Moscow Region, a member of the Moscow Regional National Team, and a medalist at prestigious international tournaments in Spain, the United States, Poland, Austria, and Switzerland. As part of the Russian National Team, she won a silver medal at the World Gym for Life Challenge. After relocating to Canada, Kira established herself as a leading professional in rhythmic gymnastics. She has worked as Head Coach and Assistant Coach at national training centers, coached Canadian National Team group gymnasts, and contributed to Pan American Championships, World Cups, World Championships, and Youth Olympic-level programs. As a coach and choreographer, Kira has created routines for national team gymnasts and elite groups from Canada, Russia, Armenia, Venezuela, and other countries. Her athletes have earned medals at provincial, national, Pan American, and international competitions, and many have progressed into high-performance and national-team pathways. Kira holds a degree in Physical Education and Sport Sciences, specializing in the Theory and Methodology of Rhythmic Gymnastics, from the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth, and Tourism. Her coaching philosophy combines strong technical foundations, modern choreography, artistry, and a deep understanding of long-term athlete development. Stephania Medetbayeva is a former Team Canada rhythmic gymnastics athlete (2018–2023) with over 10 years of high-performance training. She trained with world-renowned coaches and judges and represented Canada internationally, including being selected to compete at the Pacific Rim Championships, as well as World Cups and World Championships. A two-time Ontario Champion, she competed in both individual and group events, was part of the high-performance stream, and earned second place in clubs at Elite Canada. After her athletic career, she became an NCCP-trained Level 2 coach and has helped develop Ontario Champions.
